So this was my first Pride in Brooklyn, and I couldn’t have been more excited to cover it. Let me tell you, queer Brooklynites don’t disappoint.
Most Prides have floats; most Prides have company endorsement; most Prides have some politician you’ve never even heard of marching along in rainbow regalia for the first time in their lives. You know what Brooklyn had? Families. Parents. Kids. Teachers. Churches. Cub Scouts. Motorcycles. Cheerleaders. You name it.
I have never seen a Pride so intentional about itself.
In these 24 photos, I believe I’ve captured the absolute best of Brooklyn: Happy people celebrating the majesty of who they are. Embracing their kids, embracing their uniqueness. All smiles in a time when we really need smiles. Happy Pride!
