Molly “Equality” Dykeman Ducks Disaster to Deliver Jolly New Holiday Show

BY SCOTT STIFFLER | Train wreck; hot mess; cautionary tale…and maker of holiday miracles? Put them all together, and you just might be talking about Molly “Equality” Dykeman–the sweet-natured, mullet-rockin,’ serial screwup whose appetite for ladies, libations, and nachos puts her in a constant state of heartache and heartburn.

Gal about town Andrea Alton’s loopy, lovingly crafted comedic alter ego has been delighting–and mortifying–NYC audiences since her solo-show, The F*cking World According To Molly, premiered at 2011’s FringeNYC. Flash forward 14 years and we’re told Molly still spends her days “as a security guard at PS 339 in the Bronx, and her nights seducing women across the 5 boroughs.”

That’s not to say she’s in a rut. Somehow, Dykeman’s found the time to develop the paper-thin plot for a brand-new show. ‘Tis the Season to be Molly Jolly! finds Molly at the iconic Stonewall Inn, joined by entertainment reporter Frank DiLulu for the launch of her “top-secret holiday poetry book.” But when Frank finds the talent-challenged author’s explicit exploration of sapphic seduction far too, well, frank, “chaos ensues in the most Molly way possible.”

Having invited the teachers and staff from PS 339 to what was supposed to be her literary triumph, dutiful host Molly forges ahead with her old, familiar friend–Plan B, in which she’ll somehow whip together “a gloriously unpolished, holiday-themed spectacle to keep the night alive.”

“’Tis the Season to be Molly Jolly! ” is performed on Saturday, December 6, 5pm at The Stonewall Inn (53 Christopher St,). Special guests: D’yan D’yan Forest & Allen Warnock; Directed by Mark Mark Robert Finley; Costumes by Anthony Catanzaro; Produced by Irwin Kroot; PR by Chip Duckett & Ron Lasko of Spin Cycle. Tickets are $22, available at www.SpinCycleNYC.com. There is a 2-drink minimum for ticketholders, who must be 21+ with valid state-issued ID to attend.
